I was a reporter at The News-Star in Monroe, La. from 2009 until 2013. I am very interested in careers where writing and communication is paramount. I am also not opposed to public relations, where my journalism skills could easily be put to use. I have a deep-seated interest in sports and I feel I am perfectly suited for any career that fuses the combination of sports and writing.

Public safety reporter at The News-Star

I worked the public safety beat for The News-Star. My job consisted of covering breaking news stories, such as house fires and vehicle accidents. I also did occasional photography and video work on my assignments. I was at times assigned to attend a variety of events in my area that are not related to public safety, such as graduations and public meetings.

For the first six months of my career at The News-Star, I worked as a copy editor, or page designer, putting together certain pages for print the following day.
